Squishy Face Polish Cosmic (Fall 2013) Collection Swatches + Review

Press Samples

Told you guys I'll be back real soon! ;) Today I'm reviewing an indie brand called Squishy Face Polish! The creator, Alice, has very kindly sent me her Fall 2010 collection, also known as the "Cosmic Collection". This collection consists of 6 different shades - 4 holo shades (2 linear and 2 scattered), one jelly/glitter, and one glitter topper. The entire collection is simply fantastic! I highly recommend you... to read on ;)

Polaris is a slight green/emerald holographic polish that easily applies in just 2 thin coats. I love this! It reminds me of a moss green shade in the second picture (taken under direct sunlight). When I first looked at the bottle I was like 'wow holo okay not a really strong linear holo' but surprisingly, I love how it isn't a strongly holo-ed out polish. There seems to be a good balance between the shifty jewel-toned green shade and the holographic goodness. Really perfect for Fall!

Milky Way is just so iridescent and gorgeous and...milky! It's a soft silver shade with purple/lilac undertones to it. Again, I'm grateful that this isn't a super strong in-your-face holo (think Color Club) because it would totally wash out the lilacism of it. This was just 2 to 3 thin coats with top coat.

Nebula is a jewel-toned dark (mauve) purple shade with scattered holographic craziness. I love this color with a top coat. It gives off the 3D deep glossy effect (see picture below!). It applies so smoothly in 2 thin coats. It doesn't really look super purplish from the bottle, and there is a hint of brown to it. Another ideal shade for Fall! It looks tremendously spectacular under direct sunlight (see second picture).

Annalisa is a dark blue scattered holographic shade and the holo-ness of this is really amazing. I like how most of the shades in this collection are very jewel-toned in nature. It just gives off this classy vibe and warm feel, ya know what I'm sayin'? 2 thin coats for this look will suffice but I used 3 to make it darker and smoother. Don't skip the top coat part. It will add more depth to the whole look, I mean it. When I took this under direct sunlight (see second picture), I realised that it reminds me of a mermaid! It's very sparkly and the pay off is absolutely pretty.

Space Dust is the collection's only jelly/glitter polish and I must say, Alice, this one is truly a stunner. I am a sucker for purples (if you already haven't noticed) and this one is right up any purple lover's alley. It's another jewel-toned (wow I used this word/phrase for the gabillionth time already but it's true) bright finely milled holo purple infused with holographic tiny round glitters and different sizes of fuschia-like pink round glitters. Again, this took me about 2 to 3 thin coats and a layer of top coat. The formula is exceptional. Don't forget to give this a good shake before application!

Super Nova is the last shade of this collection, and it's a glitter topper with a pearl like base with gold hexagonal glitters, square silver glitters, and holographic particles floating around. Oh my goodness. It just hit me. This is a condensation of a super nova in a bottle!!! (and I have to study for my science test boo hoo) I layered 2 thin coats of this beauty over a black and purple semi-gradient nails (I used the term "semi-gradient" because I didn't use a sponge to create a super blended effect and I was lazy). I think this would definitely be great for glitter gradients, layering over gradient nails, over dark colored nails and etc.

And I took it a step further by mattifying this particular look. I don't know how to describe this. It's so outstanding it makes me wanna cry.

Overall, I am in love with this collection! It's very difficult to choose some favourites from this lot (if I were you, I'll get the whole collection. You'll see what I mean.) But, if I'm stranded on a sinking ship and it's down to this 6 polishes and I have to pick only 3 (because the universe is unfair like that), I'll go with Polaris, Nebula and Annalisa.

The "Cosmic Collection" is priced at USD50 for all 6 shades (which will entail you with free domestic shipping for all you US residents out there) Squishy Face Polish ships domestically in the USA and Alice does accept international orders upon request. For more information, check out their StoreEnvy and Instagram.
